L4FA Summer Art 2021
T-Shirt Project
6/17/21 Class Notes & Homework
These are the topics we covered in class:

Simple shapes like circles, ovals, triangles, squares, rectangles etc. are the building blocks of any drawing.
We looked at how professional artists always start their drawings with BIG SIMPLE SHAPES.
"HORNET" by Peter Han

"PANDAS" by Molly Idle

"TOTORO" by Lisa Ngan

We practised using BIG SIMPLE SHAPES to start our drawings.

Then we started working on our T-Shirt design.
This is how we come up with a draft:

STEP 1: We answered these questions to help us generate ideas.
STEP 2: Pick ONE thing that we want to use as our design.
As an example, Miss Lisa picked ICE CREAM.
STEP 3: Draw at least 6 tiny drafts of ice cream, using JUST BIG SHAPES. No details.
STEP 4: Pick ONE draft that you like best. Add details.
STEP 5: Search for reference photos for inspiration. If your parents allow it, you can use google. These are photo websites that you can use:
STEP 6: Improve your drawing.
STEP 7: Send the draft to Miss Lisa the day before next class. DRAFTS only. NO colors. NO completed work.
